Eligibility Criteria for TES 2023

To be eligible for the TES 2023 examination, candidates must meet certain criteria set by the Indian Army. The eligibility criteria include the following:

1. Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.
2. Age Limit: Candidates must be between 16½ and 19½ years of age on the first day of the course. Birth date not before 2^nd July 2004 & after 1^st July 2007.
3. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. They should have obtained a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in these subjects. They should have also appeared in JEE (Mains) of 2023.
4. Marital Status: Unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.
5. Medical & Physical Standards:
   • Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the following medical standards:
     • Visual Acuity: Candidates should have good binocular vision. The minimum acceptable vision standards are 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, without the need for correction (i.e., without glasses or contact lenses).
     • Color Vision: Candidates must have normal color vision, as determined by the Ishihara test or other prescribed color vision tests.
     • Physique: Candidates should have a well-developed physique with no evidence of underweight or overweight conditions. They should also have a minimum height of 157.5 cm (for men) and 152 cm (for women).
     • Hearing Ability: Candidates should have normal hearing ability, without any significant hearing loss.
     • Health Conditions: Candidates must be in good physical and mental health, free from any contagious diseases or disabilities that may hinder their performance as officers. They should not have a history of mental illness or any chronic medical condition that may affect their service.
   • Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the following physical standards:
     • Height and Weight: Candidates should meet the specified height and weight requirements set by the Indian Army. The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cm for men and 152 cm for women.
     • Fitness: Candidates are required to undergo physical fitness tests, including running, push-ups, sit-ups, and other exercises. These tests assess the candidate’s overall physical fitness and endurance.
     • Body Mass Index (BMI): Candidates’ BMI should fall within the acceptable range specified by the Indian Army. The BMI is calculated using the candidate’s height and weight measurements.
     • Physical Disabilities: Candidates should not have any physical disabilities or conditions that may affect their physical performance or restrict their ability to serve in the army’s technical branch.

Number of Vacancies of TES 2023

TES 2023 offers a total of 90 vacancies in the technical branch of the Indian Army. The limited number of vacancies ensures a competitive selection process, emphasizing the need for candidates to showcase their skills and qualifications effectively. Application Process for TES 2023

They have to apply through – the Online Application – tab on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates need to follow the instructions provided in the TES 2023 notification and fill out the online application form with accurate and complete details. You are allowed to make changes to the application form till the closing of the application form. They must click “submit” – every time they make any changes to the form.

They are required to upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature, and other necessary documents as specified in the notification.

The aspirants must submit only 1 application form. More than one application will result in the cancellation of their candidature.

Selection Procedure for TES 2023

The selection procedure for TES 2023 consists of several stages designed to assess the suitability and potential of candidates to become technical officers in the Indian Army. The selection procedure is as below:

1. Shortlisting: The Indian Army shortlists candidates based on their applications and eligibility criteria after finalizing cut-off marks. Shortlisted candidates are called for the subsequent stages of the selection process.

Type of Commission

The successful candidates will be granted a Permanent commission in the Indian Army after completing 5 years of courses provided by them.

Training after Selection

The selected candidates undergo training for 5 years. It is divided into 2 phases. They are

1. Basic Military Training – they have basic military training of 1 year at OTA Gaya
2. Technical Training – the technical training is divided into 2 parts
   • Pre-Commissioning Training of 3 years and Post-commissioning Training of 1 year at CME, Pune or MCTE, Mhow or MCEME, Secundrabad.

The candidates will be given Engineering Degree after successful completion of their training. TES officers also have opportunities for specialization and further professional development through various courses and postings.
