What is TAT and its Procedure

On the second day of the SSB, all the candidates are called to a testing hall where the Psychological tests will be conducted. Your test series will start with TAT, where they will give you a sheet with a pen to write your stories.

In TAT or Thematic Appreciation Test, 11 hazy pictures or sketches in the form of slides are projected on a screen. Each photo will be projected for 30 seconds. Once the picture turns off, you will get 4 minutes to think and write a story around that picture as to what led to that scene, what is happening in the picture, and what will be the outcome of that action shown in the picture. After 4 minutes, the next picture will be projected and then you will get 4 minutes to write the story. This will go on till 11 pictures are shown to you.

The 12th slide which is also the Last Slide is a blank slide, in which you have to write any story that comes to your mind. For this slide also, you will get 4 minutes to write your story. Once all the candidates complete these 12 stories, they will collect your answer sheet.

For each image or photo shown, there can be more than one story. Let us look at some of the sample pictures with probable stories.
