The journey of your SSB interview starts from the day you receive your SSB Interview call letter. It is one of the most extensive and hardest interviews conducted for any government job. Thus we have to be well prepared for this uphill task. The First and the foremost thing in your preparation list for SSB should be to know “What things do we have to carry while going for SSB Interview?” In this article, we have prepared an Item Checklist for SSB Interviews that you must carry along with you.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as a precautionary measure, the candidates are required to carry safety items while attending the SSB Interview.
List of Documents
Be Prepared with all Your Documents that are required at SSB Interview, either for Document Verification or as Proof.
- SSB Call Letter – The candidate should carry at least 3 copies of their call letter. One copy of the letter should be in your carry bag which will be asked at the railway station, while the other 2 should be kept as a backup with other documents.
- Online Application Form (If Filled) – In some Entries such as TGC and TES, the board officials may ask for 1 or 2 copies of your online filled form with your attested photo. Thus, be careful while filling out the online application form and you must read all the instructions mentioned in the form.
- Original Identity Proof – The candidates must carry their original ID proofs with them. Any School or College Identity Cards along with any one of the identity cards issued by the Government of India, such as Voter Card, Pan Card, Aadhar Card, or driving license. Even the admit card issued by UPSC are acceptable if they have the candidate’s photograph on them.
- Education Mark sheet & Certificates – The candidates must carry all original copies of their Class 10th mark sheet and matriculation certificate, class 12th mark sheet and certificate, and the mark sheet of every semester of your Graduation and Post-Graduation along with the Degree certificate that you have cleared till the date of attending SSB Interview. They should also carry at least 4 attested copies of all these mark sheets and certificates.
- Extra-circular Activities Certificates – The candidates should have in original as well as authorized copies of the certificates of sports or any other co-curricular activities where they have either participated or won. They should also carry any certificate of organizing any event or certificate of any position held during their school or college.
- Original NCC Certificate (with some Photocopy) (If applicable)
- Valid Commercial Pilots License, issued by DCGA (If applicable)
- All the Original Tickets (for Traveling Allowance if you are going for that entry for the first time)
- NOC Certificate from your employer (for those who are currently working in Govt. Org or PSUs)
- Original Letter from your Unit – In the Case of ACC Entry (Serving Personnel – Army/Air force/ Navy/ Coast Guard), they have to carry a specific letter from their Unit.
- Risk certificate duly signed by parent/guardian
- Original Certificate for Pre-Final and Final Year Students – All pre-final and final year students who are attending SSB interviews must carry this certificate which will be issued by the college or university
Important: Carry the originals of all the above-mentioned papers and documents along with 4 sets of their duly attested copies. In case your original certificates are with the college, university, or any organization, then the candidate must carry a custodian certificate of that authority stating that the original certificates are in their custody.
Miscellaneous Items
- Photographs – The candidates must carry at least 5 stamp sizes and 20 passport-size copies of their recent photographs while attending the SSB Interview. The photograph must be either in white or light blue background.
- Other Essential Items – You must carry with you all essential and daily use items like your slippers, shaving and grooming kits, 2 pairs of lock and key, complete bathing kit, and other miscellaneous items required for their general and daily use. It is advisable to carry some essential medicines and first aid.
- Adequate Writing Material – The candidates should carry at least 3 black and 3 blue ball pens along with plain white pages or a rough notebook or writing pad with them.
Must Carry Clothes
Generally, there is a dress code for every interview. In the same way, the dress code for SSB Interview is specified in your Call letter. There is a specific dress code for attending different tests that are conducted at SSB interviews. Thus every candidate must carry these specified clothes with them.
- Clothing – The candidate must have at least 3-4 pairs of formal clothes and formal shoes. Tie and Blazer is optional, as it is not mandatory. Men need to carry at least 2 pairs of white-collared T-shirts and white shorts. In the same way, women must carry 2 pairs of white-collared T-shirts and white lower pants. They must also carry a pair of white sports or PT shoes with 3 pairs of white socks. If it is winter, then they should bring winter clothing along with them. All other regular clothes like your casual wear, dress for the night, towels, undergarments, shoes, etc. must be in your bag pack as you have to stay for 5 days at the center. If you get recommended, then the stay may be extended to 6-7 more days.

- Uniform – If you are serving personnel in the Army/Air Force/Navy/Coast Guard, then you must carry a set of uniforms (in season accordance) for the Conference.
Safety gear for the COVID-19 precaution
Due to COVID-19, there are some safety items that every candidate must carry along with them. They are
- 3-4 pairs of face masks
- 4-5 pairs of hand gloves
- 2-3 pairs of face shields
- Water bottles
- Bedsheets
FINAL CHECK
Before leaving for the SSB Interview, the candidate must do a final check of all the items they have packed by tallying with the items specified in their call letter.
DON’T PANIC
Due to some untoward instance, In case the candidate forgets something then they must inform the authorities as soon as possible. They will help in whichever way possible. Also, all the candidates attending the SSB interview are very helpful.
Items you must avoid carrying at SSB Interview
As mentioned in your SSB Call Letter, the candidates must avoid carrying some items as below.
- Any valuable items such as Laptops,
- Expensive phone
- Jewelry
- Huge sum of cash
It is advisable to keep a minimum amount of cash in your pocket. As we all support digital India, so use digital platforms to make any payment if required.
