Personal Information Questionnaire Form or PIQ form at SSB Interview is one of the most important documents the candidate fills at the SSB Interview. PIQ form is also s as DIPR Questionnaire No. 107 – A (Revised).

The form consists of the basic personal details of the candidate. Most of the personal questions in further assessment in the SSB interview will be based on what you have written in your PIQ form.

Once you have filled out your PIQ form, it becomes a documented proof of history. Every detail you have written in the form is supposed to be a reflection of what you have done and achieved so far in your life. The interviewing officer, or other selectors at the SSB, will always refer to your PIQ form in case they will have some queries or confusion. Thus, candidates should fill out the PIQ Form very carefully. They should avoid writing something, they might not be aware of, as it may create problems in further tests.

When PIQ form is filled?

  • If your reporting time at SSB Centre is early morning, then your screening is done on the same day. In this case, PIQ form is filled out after the screening is done on Day 1.
  • If your reporting time is in the afternoon or in the evening, then your PIQ form is filled before the Screening, on the same day if reporting after your document verification.

What does the PIQ form consist of?

The basic PIQ form is a two-pager questionnaire that consists of some of the basic details about you and your personal life. These questions forms your personality, whatever you write in your PIQ form, must be in line with your actions and behavior during your stay at SSB Centre

Why PIQ form is filled – Its Importance at SSB Interview

PIQ form is the first thing you fill out after you clear your screening test and the beginning of your stage 2 testing. The Candidate’s PIQ form is circulated to the Psychologists and the Interviewing Officer and GTO in some cases. Their assessment is either based on your PIQ form or compared to your PIQ form. 

PIQ forms a base of your personality and the psychologist forms an opinion about the candidate through their PIQ form. The psychologist may interpret the candidates’ background, their family, and other social parameters from their PIQ form. Based on this information and the assessment done by them based on the candidate’s responses in psychological tests, they predict whether the candidate has given a genuine reaction in the paper or not.

Most of the questions asked by IO in the personal interview are based on your PIQ form, IO goes through your PIQ form well in advance and comes up with some questions to crosscheck your PIQ form, questions used to cross-check are so indirect and you might take it in ease but you should not contradict what you have written in the PIQ form. So it is better to write what you are and what you can prove during the personal interview.

The PIQ form has 2 basic details about background which tells a lot about your personality
  • The place of residence – In terms of facilities available in any city, it may be different in a metro city compared to that of a very small town. The facilities the candidate might have got during his upbringing and how judicially they have used those facilities can be predicted. Clearly, it gives a lot of insight into the candidate. This shows how parameters are formed about different candidates and they aren’t judged on a single scale.
  • Your Family background and parents’ occupation – The education level of the candidate’s family can be used to predict the level of awareness that a candidate gets while growing up. Similarly, if a family has sufficient income then it is a higher possibility that the candidate must have got optimum resources for their overall personality development.

  • Writing incorrect information due to lack of self-knowledge or unavailability of details
  • Framing frictional information to get attention from SSB Board

  • Candidates should be prepared with all the details that they require to fill out the form. They should at once fill out the PIQ form before their SSB Interview.
  • The candidate must keep full attention while filling out this form, and write legible and to the point.
  • The candidate should fill the PIQ truthfully, honestly, and in simple language. It can be used to your advantage since it allows the candidate to showcase their best points to the assessing officers.
  • If required, Probing can be done on the written matter. The Assessing officers can easily make out if the candidate bluffs in the form. Thus be true to yourself So stay on your ground, and don’t copy from others’ PIQ forms. The candidate should Analyze themselves to make a clear image of themselves in their mind to answer easily about themselves.
  • Know your personal details and avoid mistakes in the basic information.
  • Be aware of whatever you write – Your information in PIQ will be asked in the interview to judge your selection. So the candidate should be aware of the aspects and topics they have written in the Form. Educational details, outstanding achievements, the income of family members, position in sports and activities, etc. have to be remembered exactly as stated in the PIQ.
  • Write correct achievements and hobbies, make sure you know about what you have written on the form.
  • Write the correct number of total attempts you have done so far.

Questions in the Interview based on your PIQ form

PIQ form provides details of the candidate’s social exposure – their responsibilities, participation, and range of activities performed show your exposure to the practical world. The more they had done, the more they have experienced handling daily life situations.

Proof and examples of what you have written – the candidate’s experience must outshine in their PIQ form. To check the genuineness of their experience, interviewing officer (IO) may ask some questions to get proof of their actual presence and handling of the situation. Their responsibilities show their leadership. IO can ask for some other examples of your responsibilities or any special incident while delivering responsibilities.

Some other topics on which questions are usually asked from PIQ form in Interviews are:

  • Sports Played – Most interesting/memorable match, your captainship in a match, your performance changed the course of any game, any differences between players/caption/coach, etc. are some frequently asked questions by the IO
  • Hobbies – How do you take time for your hobbies, why do you like doing that thing, how much have you done till now, any change you have observed due to this hobby, etc. . . . Your hobbies are generally asked in the personal interviews
  • Responsibilities – Areas of responsibilities, why did they give that responsibility to you, how did you manage the responsibility with other works, etc. These questions form the base of your Interview
  • Extracurricular activities – Strategies and problems faced while preparing for the event, Any major issue faced and how did you resolve that, the theme of the event, why only this event, etc.
