SSB Interview Questions – A personal Interview of the SSB is one of three aspects of testing through which a candidate is assessed in the SSB Interview. This personal Interview is a one-on-one interactive session with the Interviewing Officer of that SSB Board, who might be either the President or the Vice-president of the Selection Board. These Personal Interviews will start after your Psychological tests on the second day. Depending upon batch size, you will be allotted your date and time. During the interview, sometimes the Interviewing officers ask some tricky or very personal questions for which you might not have expected or prepared. Every candidate might have faced this kind of situation in his or her interview. According to you what were the reasons that you were not recommended in your previous attempt?

The Interviewing officer asks this question to check whether you have introspected yourself or not. Whether you have reviewed your earlier SSB and the mistakes or drawbacks of the previous attempt. You should have worked upon your weakness and should have improved upon it. They also want to assess your level of preparation for this attempt.

You can specify a few points, in which you lagged in your last attempt, and improvements were done to overcome that. However, fresher’s will not face this question.

Sample Answer: Dear Sir, I have realized that in my previous attempts, I was not well prepared for my current affairs. Also, as I come from a civilian background, I was not that much aware of the defense lifestyle and knowledge. I have worked on my current affairs and have joined NCC to get more knowledge about our defense organization and its way of working. (You can also specify any new skill developed or a new game that you have started playing or any improvements that you have done since your last SSB)

Without looking at your chair, can you tell what the color of your chair is?

Interviewing officers want to check your mental alertness and awareness of your surroundings. You must be very attentive to all the major details while entering the room, starting from opening the door. They might also ask you what was written on the door of this room – Push or Pull. They can also ask, which things are kept at your back – without looking back.

So, observe and try to remember every detail.

Are you in a physical relationship with your boyfriend/girlfriend?

This is a very personal question, which you may ask the interviewing officer that you are not comfortable answering the question. If you wish to answer the question, then you should always speak the truth.

Do you think that pre-marital sex is OK?

To answer this type of question, don’t have a prejudiced notion.

Sample Answer – Physical relations between two adults are natural. Moreover, if both the adults have their mutual consent, then there is nothing wrong or illegal with it.

An intelligent or a beautiful wife – What will you prefer?

Sample Answer – Sir, beauty without a brain is of no use. Having an intelligent wife is better than having a beautiful one.
