Continuing that article, we have prepared a list of important days of Indian Paramilitary Forces and Raising Days of different support regiments of the Indian Army. 10 Important Days of Indian Defence Forces
Important Paramilitary Days
10th March – CISF Rising Day
CISF or Central Industrial Security Force celebrated their 54th Raising Day on 10th March 2023.
It is one of six paramilitary forces in the country which was formed in 1969. It is governed by the MHA or the ministry of home affairs.
24th March – Assam Rifles Raising Day
Assam Rifles celebrated their 188th raising day on 24th March 2023.
Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in our country. It was formally raised in 1835 under British Rule. They have also been part of World War I and World War II. Thus Assam Rifles raising day is one the most important days in Indian history.
27th July – Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Raising day
CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force observed their 84th Raising Day on 27 July 2022.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the largest paramilitary force that has played an immense contribution in upholding the integrity, unity, and sovereignty of our county.
16th October – Raising Day of National Security Guard (NSG) force
NSG or National Security Guards celebrated their 38th Raising Day on 16th October 2022.
The NSG or popularly known as Black Cats – due to their overall black uniform, is the elite forces specialized in counter-terrorism operations. It is one of the youngest Central Armed Police Forces which is governed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. NSG came into the limelight on 26/11 – which was one of the important days in Indian history.
24th October – Raising Day of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
On 24th October 2022, ITBP, or The Indo-Tibetan Border Police celebrated its 61st Raising Day.
The ITBP was raised on October 24, 1962, to guard the India-China border. In its initial days of formation – it was also known as a guerrilla force of the nature of its duty.
1st December – BSF Raising Day
BSF or The Border Security Forces celebrated its 57th Raising Day on 1st December 2022.
The Border Security Force was formed after the India-Pakistan war of 1965. It was organized to guard its border on the Eastern and Western frontiers. i.e. India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh Border. To celebrate one of the important days in its history, an annual parade and national flag hoisting ceremony are organized.
Important Days – Raising day of an Indian Army units
Every Unit of the Indian Army has a raising day. This raising day is one of the important days to the military personnel of that unit as it marks its operationalisation by integrating with other troops from all across the military.
1st February – Raising Day of Army Dental Corps
The 82nd Raising Day of the Army Dental Corps was celebrated on 01 February 2023.
The Army Dental Corps is working towards excellence with the main mission to excel in treatment delivery and the complementary mission being to inculcate innovation, creativity, and leadership qualities.
15th February – Raising Day of Corps of Signals
The 113th raising day of the signal corps was celebrated on 15th February 2023.
The Signals is working as a combat support division of the army. It also works as an Information and Communications Technology support arm of the Indian Army covering every terrain of our country – be it harsh glacial or vast desert areas.
2nd April – Mechanised Infantry Rising Day
The corps of Mechanised Infantry celebrated its 43rd Raising Day on 2nd April 2022.
The Mechanised Infantry was raised on 2nd April 1979 at The Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre, Ahmednagar.
3rd April – Army Medical Corps Raising Day
The Army Medical Corps celebrated its 258th Raising Day on 3rd April 2022.
The Army Medical Corps was formed on the pattern of the Royal Army Medical Corps on 3rd April 1943 by the amalgamation of the Indian Medical Service, the Indian Medical Department and the Indian Hospital Corps. The Corps has served in both peacetime and wartime healthcare to the defence forces. They have also helped civil authorities during natural calamities.
8th April – Army Ordinance Corps Day
The 247th Raising Day of the Army Ordinance Corps was celebrated on 8th April 2022.
The Army Ordinance Corps was responsible for ammunition, transport and store support to the Army. In 1775, the board of ordnance was formed which had the responsibility to distribute weapons, ammunition and equipment of the British Army.
1st June – Army Education Corps Day
The 102nd Raising Day of The Army Education Corps was celebrated on 1st June 2022.
In 1921, The Royal Indian Army Education Corps was formed. Later on April 30, 1946 – the then secretary of state of India – approved the formation of the Indian Army Education Corps – with effect from 1st June 1947.
15th September – Army Air Defence Raising Day
On 15 September 2022, AAD will mark its 83rd raising day.
This day is celebrated as its raising day to mark the important and significant role played in World War II. As per official records, The Army’s first air defence battery was raised in Mumbai on 15 September 1940. Before 2020, 10th January was celebrated as AAD raising day – to mark the corps’ bifurcation from the Regiment of Artillery as an independent corps.
26 September – Military Engineers Services Day
On 26th September 2022, Military Engineers Services celebrated its 100th Raising Day.
The MES or the Military Engineer Services (MES) is the leading construction agency in the country. MES also acts as one of the main pillars of the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army.
1st October – Military Nursing services day
On 1st October 2022. Military Nursing Services celebrated its 97th Raising Day.
Out of many important days, on this day in 1926, Indian Army raised Permanent Nursing Services and designated it as Indian Military Nursing Services (IMNS).
15th October – EME Corps Day
On 15th October 2022. the 80th Raising Day of The Corps of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers (EME) was celebrated.
The EME Corps is maintaining almost all the equipment that is in the inventory of the Indian Army.
18th October – Corps of Military Police
The Corps of Military Police celebrated its 83rd Raising Day on 18 October 2022.
The Corps of Military Police has grown and evolved drastically. They have performed the duties like guiding advancing forces, managing the camps of Prisoners of War, managing and maintaining the traffic at various ceremonial activities, and navigating the VIP convoys.
1st November – Army Aviation Corps day
On 1st November 2022, the Army Aviation Corps celebrated its 37th raising day.
The Army Aviation Corps has grown drastically and is now all set to play an important role in all current battlefield situations. It has also been at the forefront of providing support to the common man during times of natural calamities.
18th November – Corps of Engineers Day
On 18th November 2022, The Corps of Engineers celebrated the 242nd Raising Day
Sappers have a glorious and enviable history dating back to mid 18th Century. There were mainly three sappers – the Madras Sappers, The Bengal Sappers, and the Bombay Sappers. The Madras Sappers is the oldest one whose raising day is celebrated as the Raising day of the Corps of Engineers. On 18th November 1932, all three sappers were merged and gave birth to the Corps of Engineers.

Which forces come under the paramilitary forces of India?
The forces which are governed and maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs are called Paramilitary forces. In India, there are 7 paramilitary forces governed by the Ministry of home affairs. Collectively these forces are called Central Armed Police Forces. They are
• Border Security Force (BSF)
• Assam Rifles (AR)
• Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
• Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
• Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
• National Security Guard (NSG)

What is the raising day of any regiment of the Indian army?
Raising day generally is the day when the unit or regiment is formed and started its operations by integrating with other troops. In some cases, the raising day can also be that day which holds an important place in their history. Thus, raising day is one of the Important Days for the unit.
When do we celebrate Army, Navy & Airforce days?
Every day we celebrate Army day on the 15th of January, Navy Day on the 4th of December, and Airforce Day on the 8th of October.
